    Who is Leaders of Tomorrow for?

    The program is focused on two primary audiences:
    • “Emerging leaders” with upwards of five years’ experience who see growth opportunities or are identified by their organizations and colleagues as potential leaders of tomorrow.
    • Experienced mid-career professionals who would benefit from renewal, refocus, rejuvenation, allowing them to recommit and move to more senior and responsible leadership roles.

    How does the program work?

    The program is delivered into three phases

    • Phase 1: Immersive Experience – 5 days
    • Phase 2: Year-long Mentorship/Coaching – 1 year 
    • Phase 3: Year-end Leadership Summit – 1.5 days

PHASE 1

A lifechanging experience in just 5 days

The role of the non-profit leader today and in the foreseeable future will be one of mastering fluidity, complexity, and turmoil. The learning curve is steep, and the organizational stakes are high.

To be successful, individuals will need to develop both technical skills and leadership competencies.

  • Day 1

    Personal Leadership

    Outcomes

    • Reflect on ‘self’ in the context of leadership
    • Understand the gap between where/who I am and where/who I want to be in my leadership journey
    • Gain understanding, appreciation and knowledge of your skills, abilities and attributes as a leader
    • Identify and assess values, personally and professionally
    • Challenge your values in an environment outside one’s comfort zone
    • Understand and be aware of the moments in which we can hold true to our values
    • Share observations with others
  • Day 2

    Organizational Leadership

    Outcomes

    • Understand how organizations are structured and what that means in terms of leadership approach
    • Reflect on how leadership happens in organizations
    • Understand the various leadership roles in an organization
    • Understand the leadership positions within an organization 
    • Identify and define the role you play in your organization
    • Identify the best suited role and the role you may wish to play in the future – identifying the role you are best suited for and the role you may wish to have/take in the future
    • Understand the characteristics and values you need for the current role, those you need for the future role, and the difference between the two
    • Distinguish between formal and informal leadership roles
  • Day 3

    Community Leadership

    Outcomes

    • Understand the elements of community leadership, people, and organizations
    • Determine in what capacity you may wish to lead (personal and/or organizational) and how to blend the two 
    • Understand the community you are building, or the community in which you see yourself as a leader, and how you contribute to growing this community
    • Define your vision for your community / communities
    • Share your vision with the community
    • Engage people and mobilize resources
  • Day 4

    Professional Leadership

    Outcomes

    • Identify the profession that you most closely relate to
    • Identify the components that constitute a profession
    • Understand the role a profession in advancing community development and the development of civil society
    • Understand the role of high standards and ethics in all that we do 
    • Understand the role of a profession in leadership that can support all of the previously discussed elements of leadership
  • Day 5

    Leadership Development Plan

    Outcomes

    • Before leaving the retreat, each participant is responsible for defining leadership for themselves and developing a year-long leadership development plan
    • Participants can use their own framework for the plan or use the framework provided by the program
    • Participants present their plans to their colleagues and are responsible to their cohort colleagues for delivering on it

PHASE 2

Year-long Mentoring / Coaching

Each participant will have the opportunity to consult the implementation of their own leadership development plan with a mentor/coach. Participants choose their mentor coach from the program facilitators and have an opportunity to meet with those facilitators on a monthly basis. The role of the mentor/coach is not to monitor the progress of the participant. The role is to support the participant in their efforts to achieve their own personal and professional leadership goals, objectives and aspirations. 

PHASE 3

Leaders of tomorrow 2024 graduation

Leadership Summit

To conclude the program, participants are invited to gather at the end of the year and present their leadership experience and share the success and failures, achievements and disappointments during the year. Participants are then invited to take part in the orientation of the incoming cohort.

Leaders of Tomorrow Certificate:
Participants are provided with a Certificate upon the completion of the program.
